2015 Strategic Plan video
OBJECTIVE: I was tasked with summarizing EDF’s 30-page Strategic Plan in a video in in a video that members and potential donors could digest in fewer than three minutes.
SOLUTION: Because the Strategic Plan listed 2020 as its final date for all the intended achievements and progress, we came up with the idea of “headlines we would like to see” representing how these accomplishments would be described once achieved.
RESULTS: The video was screened to EDF’s Board of Directors to a wildly positive result and was circulated to members, resulting in lively interaction on the Facebook page. The piece also became a wildly successful internal rallying tool when screened at the 700-person internal staff retreat themed around the Strategic Plan, and all staff email signatures included a link to the video. (Note that many achievements listed in the “headlines” *did* come to fruition, as envisioned; however the 2016 presidential election resulted in a new emergency strategic plan based equally on defense as progress.)
