2017 EDF Annual Report
Each year, the EDF fundraising department–Development–relied on the internal creative team to design and produce its Annual Report for major donors. As Creative Director, my role was to help a longtime designer think differently, and enable fresh, new approaches to convey a given year’s theme.
This issue coincided with the 50th anniversary of EDF’s founding. Given the challenges of a year fraught with bitter environmental battles to fight the anti-environmental rhetoric and actions of the new Trump administration, we could not adopt a celebratory tone. Rather, we elected to harken back to the organization’s roots and focus on the initial species that EDF was responsible for saving, and also convey some of the somber mood of the times while remaining uplifting.
